Garbage collection a way to keep Woodbine Beach free of plastic garbage, Dora Attard says

A Toronto resident has created a giant globe in the shape of Earth out of plastic garbage collected on Woodbine Beach this past summer.
Dora Attard, founder of Plastic Free Beach Toronto, revealed her new art installation on the beach on Sunday to focus attention on the problem of single-use plastics. The globe is made up of more than 500 water bottles and thousands of pieces of coloured plastic.
What a wonderful project, it’s just sad that so much of this was found on the beach.
Great initiative! Once a plastic bottle (or any piece of litter) is thrown on the ground, it stops existing in the polluter’s mind, they move on and nothing confronts them to the negative impact they created. This litter-ball brings it all in the open and people are forced to face it and pay attention. If only 25 people sees this and start carrying reusable water bottles, it prevents thousands of these plastic disposable bottles in the environment. Every little bit helps!
I like her T-Shirt the reads ” There is no planet B”. She is so correct, if we don’t start doing a better job taking care of our planet we are going to be in big trouble. Plastic is a huge problem, most recyclable items are never recycled, most is buried, oceans and watersheds all over the world are suffering because of plastic and the thoughtless individuals that allow plastic pollution to happen.
Do your part, stop or cutback on the amount of plastic containers you buy.
