Porcupine River Watershed Acknowledgement

The Porcupine River Watershed is located on Treaty #9 territory, a vast region home to many First Nations, Métis and Inuit people living in harmonious relationships with the land since time immemorial. We are on the traditional territory of many Indigenous Nations including the Mattagami First Nation, Flying Post First Nation, Matachewan First Nation, home to many Ojibway, Cree, Oji-Cree, Algonquin, and Métis People.

We cannot talk about water and environmental health without recognizing the long history of land and water protection and caretaking by Indigenous Nations; we believe their voices should be central to conservation discussions and decisions.
